I've been planning to wire up the electric fuel pump so that a relay switches it on when the key is in the ON position, then later do the low-oil-pressure killswitch. Currently waiting on a fuel regulator before I embark on that.
But...did you try hitting it with a hammer?

Electric fuel pumps should be instaled as close to the fuel tank as possible, they are great at pushing fuel ,but not at all good at sucking from the engine compartment Larry

Well, the instructions say to do it that way anyway, so that was the plan to begin with.

Yeah whoever did this has the electric pump hanging by the fuel lines and electrical lines in with the spark plug cables... and the mechanical fuel pump is still there. So hopefully it'll be an easy thing to switch back.

that is not very safe, I would remove that right away. I do not know why the PO just did not get a regular mechanical fuel pump, they are cheaper than an electric fuel pump and it just bolts right in.

I know right? The ugly kill switch is in the driver foot area where it is easy to hit it by mistake.

Ended up getting the rear hatch unlocked with buck's key.

Found out why the rear headliner is sagging. Those huge pieces of plastic trim that border the rear quarter windows are gone

that is what happens when you keep driving way past you already know something is really wrong with the engine (but you keep driving it because you hope it will just get you home...).

I have pulled more than a few head gaskets out of my Tercel that looked like that. this is beyond a mere failed head gasket, that only happens when you keep driving it.

Yeah it would not even go from the driveway to the curb without needing to be pushed

That head could be warped depending on how hard the PO pushed it after the initial failure.

I hate the modern stoves, the modern dishwashers, the modern blenders, washing machines, etc. : rather than a simple reliable mechanical switch or button, they have these digital screens that do not hold up, and make you more likely to hit the wrong command!!! the old mechanical switches just worked fine, but NOOO, now we have to have all this digital crap that falsl apart. why? sexier? I am sure it is very sexy waiting around to get it fixed so you can cook a meal or do the laundry. what a bunch of crap.

Oh ya, I forget that most people do not cook anymore, so the digital controls look cool in the kitchen on everything. They do not even know HOW to use them.

while we're bitching about home appliances: do you know what i hate? rice cookers. is it too hard to turn an element off after simmering rice in a pot for 15 min? who can't handle that?
