"Bullet" ... My Pristine Silver 1985 SR5 T4WD

Post by BrownBadger »

I brought "Bullet" home last night after driving to San Francisco to purchase it. It was actually only about 2 miles away from where I bought my first T4WD many years ago. It is essentially a one owner car (up until 2 weeks ago). This Tercel is in incredible condition, even with 171k miles, having been garaged its entire life. The paint is perfect, with no clear coat peel. The interior is a solid 9 out of 10 all the way around (needs a light cleaning). There is NO rust anywhere, or even dents/dings/scrapes, etc. It has the original radio, floor mats, and cargo cover. It runs and drives very well and passed CA smog (although barely on some measures) without needing any work.

Immediate plans for the future are a new stereo/speakers, installing my full sized roof rack from the Brown Badger (my beater 84 SR5), and some 195/70R14 Kumoh's on a set of 14" MR2 alloys (currently in the back seat).

that is one of the first ones I have seen with all of the black-out around the windows and the stainless window trim still in good shape.

Great find, how much was it? Did you check the fuel economy on your way back?

The black trim was one of the amazing things about it that I noticed as well. There is some silver showing through in a couple places along the rain gutters, but it is pretty much perfect. Haven't gone through a full tank yet, so not sure on MPG, it seemed to go through the first half tank fairly fast, but that could just be how the gauge reads.

The best part was the price - $2000, and since he just paid up the registration it only cost me $55 to register.

The black seats are interesting, haven't seen those often.

Yeah, definitely one of the more understated SR5 interiors. I had assumed it would be the blue interior, but i like the grey/black.

Yup. Took about a year or more of posting the ad to find this one. Takes patience, but I have found a lot of great cars at even better prices that way.

Damn, thats sharp!
It takes more fossil fuel resources to produce new vehicles than it would take to maintain and fuel any 70's or 80's vehicle for a million miles.

those MR2 wheels really look like they were made for this car, improves the appearance very nicely.

Have you noticed how much better the car handles with the larger, wider and more stiff wheels over the flexibly steelies?

Had Bullet detailed the other day and it looks like a brand new car. Also added my full-length roof rack.
