I kid, maybe I meant hippies

Edit: David! When you replaced your inner tie rod end, was there a different part for power steering vs manual steering?

Tie-rods should be the same manual or power steering.

The outter tie rod ends are listed as being different for manual vs power but all the inner didn't say so I was making sure.

The inner and outer tie rods are identical for power steering and manual steering. The only difference is the boots. Just went through that with a conversion I did and the parts places confirmed the parts were the same.

Go figure, I wonder why rockauto has different part numbers for manual and power steering outer tie rods from the same brand.

Even eBay had manual vs power listings!

There were not many "manual" ones left that weren't crazy over priced.

I have swapped around these parts, from a mix of power and manual steering. I compared them side by side, and found no difference. They all swapped across without issue, they are the same part. I would make sence the housing end of the boot is larger on the power rack, but I always use the generic boots so you just trim it off at the right dia, and I buy the same boot.

Sounds good for future purposes, as all the "power" tie rod ends were much cheaper!

the dream terc recently sold to the second person who came and looked at it. the new owner joined the forum a week or so ago so i hope they will be active on here in the future. it was fun and satisfying working on it, getting it back into good working order, and i am hopeful that the new owner will look after it and keep it on the road for many more years to come.

and now for another break from project cars while we focus on the yard, vegetable garden, road trips, and general summer fun.

(imagine this in the preview guy voice)

*cue dramatic music*

"HE HAD TOO MANY CARS..."

*heavy breathing*

"HE HAD TOYOTAS... HONDAS... AND MAYBE A FORD..."

*sound of gas pump clicking off*

"HE SOLD HIS DREAM TERCEL BECAUSE HE LIKED HIS COROLLA BETTER"

"(AND BECAUSE HIS WIFE DOES NOT LIKE THE TERCEL BECAUSE IT IS NOT HIP ENOUGH)"

"BUT THIS TIME HE WENT TOO FAR."

*sound of tow truck*

"COMING SOON, THE DREAMIEST DREAM TERCEL YOU HAVE EVER SEEN"

*view of car laying down thick white smoke*

"MORE HEAD GASKETS!"

*sound of oil leaking from double gasket oil filter*

"MORE OIL CHANGES"

*klank clunk BANG*

"MORE SUSPENSION WORK"

*squeek*

"AND DID WE MENTION, MORE MICE NESTS IN THE CAR?"

"THIS SUMMER, GET READY FOR TERCELAHOLIC #8: A STORY OF A SURVIVOR"

I saw this #7 parked in my neighborhood today. I recognized it from the gold touch-up paint around the fenders (which is much better than the job on mine) I don't know if they live there or were just visiting. I'm going to have to put on a fake beard and dark glasses and drive by every 1/2 hour or so to investigate.
