Texture Finish Valve Cover

Post by Abra-Cadaver » Tue Jun 12, 2018 5:35 pm

After doing distributor, timing belt, water pump, new radiator, camshaft oil seal, crankshaft oil seal, valve adjustment, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil change, etc etc etc... I decided I wanted to add a little cosmetic cherry on top. I've wanted to do this for a while, so I finally had an excuse.
Sprayed two heavy coats an hour+ apart, then after 3rd heavy coat I baked it in the oven for an hour at 200-220 degrees. I like how it came out.

Makes it look modern, but now it looks too nice for the engine compartment of a tercel. need to dress the rest of it up some how.

I thought it made it look more utilitarian and less dressed up than the bright aluminum cover, which is what I wanted. Maybe after a few off road trips and some dust it'll break in the look :D But I still need to rebuild this trans before any of that. Still trying to get someone, anyone, to send shift forks/synchros. I should be able to order seals and bearings. Don't want to tear it apart if I don't have any parts to fix it with. It'll just sit in pieces for days/weeks/months and I'll have no transportation. I gotta look at the date of when I posted my trans rebuild post... had I taken it apart then, it would still be apart now! wtf
