Redline's Weber Air Cleaner

Post by ARCHINSTL »

Umday question, I'd imagine, but...
How does one clean this short cleaner - with the expensive K&N stuff?
Or...?
Natuarally, Redline supplied no information with this accessory...
I'd prefer a "real" element instead of this sieve, especially were I in a dusty area - but it does look neat...

I'd imagine spray it with an air compressor nozzel or one of those cans of computer dust cleaners would work fine

The recommendation from a long time Guzzi mechanic is that the K&N type filters are NOT good air filters and result in excessive cylinder bore wear. A paper element is probably a much better solution considering that the "free flow" filter will only make a difference (if any) at wide open throttle.

Just as I thought !
Now to find a paper element which fits the "cool" top and bottom...

Do not do this. It can/will create holes in the media.

I spray on any one of those purple degreasers and let soak for 10-15 minutes. Then a gentle warm/hot water rinse and an overnight airdry. Then a spray of K&N air filter oil or equivalent and it's good to go.

i use carbclean, and wash it with light water pressure, too much and the gauze brakes, works great
tercel 4wd custom suspension, under drive pulley, vented brakes, cold air intake, and plenty more to come
