My car is a 1987 Toyota Tercel DX Wagon RHD 1452cc manual driven car.
I have never replaced front coil springs so far.
Car is having excessive bumping when driving. This didnt resolved with replacing shocks. Car is sagged at front.
Is this the time to replace coil springs?
When should I replace shock Spring Coils ?

Re: When should I replace shock Spring Coils ?
if the ride height is normal (factory specification) than the springs should be fine.
they can eventually sag over time, this comes from internal defects in the metal matrix of the spring, and perhaps microscopic cracks that weaken it.
Normally the factory steel springs are very durable and fatigue resistant. mine in my 1984 ride at stock height, depute daily driving on rough unpaved roads and for 400,000 road miles (660,000 km). though I have seem some tercels sage with age, perhaps from always being over loaded.

Re: When should I replace shock Spring Coils ?
Hi Dumindu,
DId they replace front struts (contain shock and spring) or just rear shocks? I would look at replacing the springs anyway as the car is getting old now and the old springs will cause it to sag in front
While they are replacing that it is a good time to look at bushing for front roll bar and other items that might need looking at.
Good luck!

I have used King Springs. They have made them for the Tercel AL25 in Australia and are often available on Ebay.

Just a few items Im looking at on ebay currently:
So many re-sellers buying these parts and adding ridiculous mark-ups....
I'd imagine Webco shocks are for budget conscious home mechanics, perhaps a good torture test will document how they last after a while.
