TRANSMISSION ISSUSES STILL....

Post by 86tercelOG »

all, my originally trans was completely trashed and the houses was pretty much warped. I had gotten another trans thru a facebook page and the guy had said it shifted and all and all looked good. my mechanic got the trans and said everything looks good just like mine did but the input shaft didn't move at all... my og trans had gotten stuck in 3rd gear and wasn't shifting

it is possible in transport that the linkage got shaken and allowed two of the gears to engage at once, locking up the trans. there is also a side plug that is not a plug, but a locating pin, and if it is removed, you have to make sure a part of the linkage is properly aligned before you put the pin back into the side of the trans.

if you do a search on locked up transmission, you should find a thread on the topic. if I recall it even has pictures on how to fix it without taking the trans apart.

good luck.
