Accelerator / throttle cable 4age swap

Post by Chard »

Hi! I'm looking for which accelerator cable to purchase to replace what I currently have, which is much too long and fraying. I have a rwd intake manifold. Does anyone know if other toyotas have compatable cables? What has everyone else used in there 4age swaps? Thanks!

Temporary fix for now. But if anyone knows what other accelerator cables fit, let me know.

likely the same cable for the RWD Corolla GT-S that uses the 4age engine is what you want (1984-86?). the corolla engine bay is a bit wider and the distance from the throttle pedal to the intake manifold is a little longer, but should be close enough to work.

you may have to find a place that can make one up for you.

Thanks Petros. I was thinking that but they seem too short at 24ish inches. Might have to give it a try though. In your experience do toyotas cables of that era have the same connections at the pedal and throttle side?

yes, pretty much. they tend to use the same design for many detailed parts such as the throttle cable ends. the end at the throttle plate should match of course, and most of the pedals I have seen look identical. the throttle pedal assembly are likely interchangeable across several models.
