Making New Trim Parts Unviersal Molding

Post by bustedbelt » Fri Apr 19, 2019 1:54 pm

After scraping the internet for rain gutter trim, window dust seals, and windshield trim, I feel there must be some universal products out there that are "pretty close" and look alright when cut to length, etc. Rather than driving this car until it dies, I am trying to bring it back a bit and spiff it up! After all, it's 37 years old. If you have made your own trim/molding let us know how - trim-lok has a lot of options but I haven't tried any yet.
I am looking specifically for the outer drivers window trim/seal, the windshield trim, and the rain gutter trim. Thanks!

I have refreshed the trim around the windshield with Scotch Brite pads, and than repainted it flat black.

Seems the rain gutter trim would be tough, no modern cars use rain gutters any more.

I'm also in the process of painting the rain gutters, side and windshield trim, as well as the wiper arms. I think this makes a bigger visual difference in the perceived condition of the car compared to anything else you can do on the cheap.

I used 3M electrical tape to do rain gutters and around windshield, tape needs to be 3M brand or it won't hold up.
