Parking brake adjustment

Post by Dumindu »

My car is a Toyota Tercel 1987 4WD 1452CC DX Wagon.

Can adjust the parking brake at handle side in my car? I cant find any adjustment mechanism at the site of the handle.

If there isnt such, can we install such a mechanism additionally?

If so, is there such mechanisms available to buy?

Dumindu,

FSM, page BR-8. Adjustment nut is at the bottom of the e-brake handle.

Thank you very much.

Its a simple mechanism. I didnt even thought it. Nut was at the very end of the threads. So I thought it is a immovable locking nut.

I added a longer steel sleeve and adjusted the brake.

Again thank you for your advice.

I recently adjusted my parking brake as well. The lock nut had loosened itself and was backed almost completely off its stud. I'm lucky it didn't decide to jump off the turnip truck and dive under the carpet pad or some other dark, sad ending.

Got the handle tightened just before we had the multi-week Snow-pocalypes, which made for a lot of handbrake turns in the snow!
