Fuel pump help
Fuel pump help
I’m having troubles with my mechanical fuel pump...from what I see the arm rides on the cam. Does anyone have a pic or diagram? Also, will a 5-9 psi electric fuel pump work on a 3A engine carbureted...

Re: Fuel pump help
The electric fuel pump will work but needs to be regulated down to 3 to 3 1/2 psi to work properly 5-9 is way to much fuel pressure . Larry

Re: Fuel pump help
a fuel pump that puts out 5-9 psi will over power the float in the carb and flood the engine.
the mechanical fuel pump is usually very reliable, safe and not to costly to purchase, easy to replace. an electric fuel pump has to be messed with to get it mounted and working properly, and you will need a fuel pressure regulator, and it risks running after an accident, pumping fuel even if the engine is not running, risking
of a fire.
