Tercel A55 converted to an A55F

Hi my question is can you convert an A55 to a A55F by just adding the rear servo in it's housing - thanks.

probably not. you have to replace the main shaft with a longer one so it goes all the way through the transfer case that bolts on to the back of the trans housing.

I also suspect there are a few differences in the main gear box housing, to accommodate the 4wd set up. Many of the internal parts between the 2wd and 4wd trans are identical and interchangeable, but I do not think it is feasible to make a 2wd trans into a 4wd. I might be possible with enough parts, and enough budget, and/or a machine shop at your disposal, to convert the case, but it is likely cheaper, and much easier, to just find a used 4wd trans and transfer case.

It may be possible to get yourself a blown 4wd transmission, and use the 2wd one for parts to rebuild the 4wd one to get one good working transmission.

Output shaft and counter shaft are different. Petros last paragraph is the best way.
