Parts for Initial Once-Over on '84 SR5

Post by spencercat »

I just picked up a new-to-me '84 SR5 and want to make sure I am getting the right parts for my initial repair+replace project. It's in pretty good shape although it has a crunched fender/bumper/headlight (already sourced replacements).

I plan to lift the T4, swap to a weber and upgrade the booster/master cylinder later, but will replace all fluids, starting with the transmission/transaxle and rear diff right away. I'm on the lookout for the brake parts, as well as Miata daisy wheels.

I've reviewed the board's suggestions and have ordered lower ball joints, PCV, NGK spark plugs, fuel filter, '92 Tercel vented rotors, '85 MR2 calipers and pads from Rockauto. I am about to order front end bushings from Sparks Toyota, but want to be sure I am getting what is needed to have a complete new front end, bushing-wise. I've got the following ready to order from Sparks:

48815-16090 x2 Stabilizer Bar Bushings
48674-16030 x2 Cushion Strut Bar Bushings
48675-16041 x2 [same name]
90387-14007 x2 Collar
90948-02056 x4 Retainer Cushion
90206-14048 x2 Wave Washer
94184-61400 x2 lock nut

I also plan to order the Front Sway Bar To Lower Control Arm Kit (SPF1064K) from suspension.com. Am I missing anything necessary, or is there anything I don't need/am duplicating on this list?

Anything else I should consider doing?

$14.18 each for '030 and $11.77 for the '041. $7.50 for the collar. Too bad about the loonie tax!

if you are getting the after market urethane bushing kit "Front Sway Bar To Lower Control Arm Kit" from suspension.com, you will not need the stock cushions or the sleeves. The retainer, nut and washers can likely be reused from your existing set up if they are in decent shape. Since these parts are dealer only, it would save a lot of money to not purchase them.
