Can I use a Metal Epoxy welder for carburetor ?

Post by Dumindu »

My car is a Toyota Tercel 1987 4WD 1452CC DX Wagon. It has a Aisen 14120 2 BL Carburetor

Can I use a Metal Epoxy welder for repair a dent in the Cast Iron part of the carburetor?

Can it tolerate the heat?

I would do it. I usually use JBWELD
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

not sure I have ever seen a 4 barrel carb on a Tercel, but epoxy is a common repair for carbs. makes sure you clean it real good.

Carbs do not get that hot or the fuel would vaporize and cause vapor lock. Quality epoxy should work fine.

I have even seen epoxy used to seal up water leaks in a head, sometimes aluminum can have some porosity that causes coolant to seep into the intake, epoxy seals it up.

I figured, I was just teasing. if you really had a 4 barrel carb, I want to see a picture of it, and hunt one up for my tercel!
