Inclinometer
Anyone have a spare, working inclinometer they'd like to sell me? Bonus if the housing is gray!

Re: Inclinometer
in addition to the forum, check ebay regularly. they come up from time to time. sometimes they are outrageously overpriced but some can be had for $50, which seems to be the average price. i lucked out and got one from a wrecker for $20.

Re: Inclinometer
Yeah we've been watching eBay, lots of 4 runner ones which makes me tempted to do a custom job with one.

You can easily paint yours the proper color, there's paint designed for car plastic/vinyl!

Re: Inclinometer
I haven't been able to find any of the vinyl paint that would match the color of my car. It's always black or grey, but I will do some more digging.

Re: Inclinometer
I don't think that's the one. I was looking as some SEM paints but can't tell if it's the Camel color or the Saddle Tan. Anybody have any experience with color matching the brown Tercel interior?

Re: Inclinometer
the inteiror colors never really matched, at least after they were more than a few years old. all of the plastic parts are slightl different, I noticed that on mine a long time ago. I had one with a gray dash and side panels, and my current daily driver is the peanut butter brown color. from one part to the next they do not even match color, likely because they were made from different types of plastic compounds. If you make your hood match the dash color, it will be better than it was from the factory. If all else fails, you could go two tone, black and your tan color. Much of the dash uses black trim around the hood, controls, etc. so painting black will look okay. I drove for many years with a grey inclinometer hood on my brown dash, until I located a brown one. I did not even notice until I found the brown one.

Re: Inclinometer
different parts of my car are faded more than others and there is a lot of different brown/tans in there, so i wouldnt be too upset myself if it even came close.

Re: Inclinometer
I pulled one from an 83 at the pick-n-pull today. It's brown. Didn't have time to pull the dash so I ended up busting the tabs on the inclinometer and did not grab the bracket. Tabs could be repaired pretty easy and all the parts you see, including the cover, are dirty but are in good shape. If anyone is interested let me know.

Re: Inclinometer
note that the '83 and '84 brown interior is a lighter color brown than the '85-87 brown. They went to a darker brown with a slight greenish cast to it over the lighter more "peanut butter" brown of the earlier model years. so it you want it match to have to get the whole interior! or live with the two slightly different colors.

Re: Inclinometer
you don't need to remove the dash to remove the inclinometer. you just need to remove the glove box so you can access the 8mm nuts on the back side of the dash, and unplug the wire harness. the entire unit can then be lifted off in one piece.BrownBadger wrote:I pulled one from an 83 at the pick-n-pull today. Re: Inclinometer
Brown Badger, is there anyway you could post some pics of the brown inclinometer you pulled? If the color is close enough I would be interested in buying it off you. Thanks.

Re: Inclinometer
you should go back and get the bracket, they are impossible to mount properly without it. Next time be more careful, these things are hard to find and damaging it to remove it is completely unnecessary and does not save you time. You just have to remove two 10mm bolts from under the dash, and unplug the connector, and it comes off in one piece. The bolts are easy to reach with an extension on your socket wrench without having to remove the dash.
If you can not do it properly without causing damage to it, than leave it for someone who can. Damaging it does no good to anyone.
