I just acquired an '83 that the past owner said had the smoothest tranny he'd ever seen in a Tercel. No idea how many miles the tranny has on it though. I'm in CO if you can't find anything closer.

NO, I just posted that to thumb my nose at you, of course its for sale. That tranny is still in the car- i have a known good one from our first '83-280K miles on it, smooth shifting when pulled, not cleaned up, still greasy, but out of the car.-$150 plus shipping.

Iv already hoarded 2 spare trannys for myself, including one i ordered from japan for $400 ish with only 50K on it...so i figure its safe to suggest the company who iv been dealing with...google for and contact Soshin Trade Corp...IDK how long they had the one i ordered floating around there warehouse...but they may be able to get you a low mileage one like the one i ordered from them. and yes this is the same company that has F'd up the shipping on my diesel engine and is making the swap project drag out much longer than expected...

I would think Trannys would be extremely easy for everybody to find out around the west coast. 90% of the people on this forum are in CA or Washington state as far as i can tell...im out here in east bumf Pennsyilvania...but then i dont think anybody here including myself really wants THAT kind of tranny...
