The guy lies! 40-50 mpg with 3.73 ring and pinion, HAH! Even at $300 it is no bargain IMHO. I shop at Pull-A-Part.

Interesting - he's sold everything from T-shirts to bicycles to cartoons. From his name, wonder if this is a JDM kit he bought for his own car. The part number he lists matches nothing in our parts list, whether for sedans or wagons, first or second diff iteration, front or rear.

I don't doubt 40+.... I've done it more than once in my 84 mind you... But.... Is this rear or front?

It has to be rear Judging from the pinion shaft. The front pinion shaft is quite long and does not use a nut like the the rear diff.

Nice to see the listing got the attention of the tercel4WD community without me even being here.

Anyway, the ring and pinion is a genuine Toyota part bought from a Toyota dealer long ago. It's the FRONT ring and pinion for the transaxle, NOT the rear diff. Not sure why the part number is an issue, typing it into any Toyota OEM parts website clearly states what it is and the cost as stated on the listing.

Oh, and it's still up for grabs if anyone's interested.
