Two old cars not on road. Both are being taken over by rust and mice. Does anyone need parts for very cheap. Reply and and advise, or talk shipping etc. Cars are in my yard in Massachusetts.

The 1985 is intact. I took it off the road about 3 years ago. At that time it was road worthy. The vehicle had a smalll gas leak that created fumes. The radiator fan was running constantly at the very end. I kept the car going in the yard for about a year after that. So really all the parts are OK in that car.

The interesting note is that before I retired the car, I knew the exhaust pipe from the center of the car back was bad, so I got a new replacemnet pipe under lifetime warranty. I also have inside the house, at least one new rotor and pads. I have a 1985 Toyota service manual. The orange one. It looks as though that is on this website...

On the 1983 SR5I did take some parts off to keep the 85 going. But it still has that wild inclometer and the plaid or tiel seats. Along with all the internal parts. I would thing someone would need smaller items shift knobs, harnesses, fusible links, turn signal covers, etc.... Those would be shipable...

History:
I bought the 83 in the early 90's for $100. It was my friend's and it was totalled. I replaced the damaged front end parts, radiator, hood and power steering line. I had that car for over 2 years with a few problems but really not many. I enjoyed that car so much, I bought the 1985 in 1995.
I bought the 1985 with 67K miles. I retired it with about 199 K. I think I spent less than $1k on repairs for that vehicle.. These were the best snow vehicles ever. The 6th gear on that vehicle was the greatest. They really don't build cars like that anymore.... plus about 35 mpgs. I kind of lost interest with Toyota after that... now own a Subaru Legacy automatic... boring to drive..

Sorry for the ramble, but the 85 has most parts intact. The 83 you would have to ask.

1. What color interior(s)
2. I'm looking for a rear 'luggage shelf' and, possibly, a blue w/white 'tweed'
insert passenger seat.

1. The Interior of the 1983 SR5 is grey dash, rug, and luggage compartment shelf, with the blue and white tweed seats. Remarkabley, these seats were in excellent shape when I took that car off the road.
2. The luggage comparment shelf is intact. It is grey.

The interior of the 1985 is black with white-black tweed seats. Used - average condition.

I'll try to take some digital photos during the day ASAP.

Note: I really won't be looking for much for any of these parts. I would like to see them used to keep an old car going.

FYI: maplights only come with the factory power sunroof... (ie. they can't be moved from one car to another).

For maplights, check on cressidas, supras, camry's, and so on at the wreckers. Many of these lights seem to be shared.

Do you still have the clinometer from the '83 ? I'm interested in adding one to my '85.
1984 Tercel 4wd Dlx. - 192K miles.
1985 Tercel 4wd SR5 - 185K miles (not running)
1986 Tercel 4wd Dlx - 210K miles (dd)

Only 3 to go for the whole set ! lol

The final chapter:
My 2 Tercels 1983 and 1985 have been sent to the crusher...
Not too sentimental as the cars sat idle for way too long. I am happy I was able to sell a couple parts to Tercel enthusiasts...

BEST DAMN CARS I EVER OWNED!!!

I have a Subaru Legacy automatic now. It is so boring to drive comared to the Tercels Wagons. I used to wait for the snow. I once drove down my road (dirt) prior to the snowplow's arrival. We got about 17" of snow that time, and I never bogged down......I had to stop clear the front of snow for the cooling system, but the car never was adversely effected by the snow.
(Maybe I am a little sentimental Eh?

I Think the Toyota Matrix line is an attempt at recreating these cars, but I think they fall short. I don't think Toyota knows what they eliminated with these.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL. KEEP THOSE TERCEL WAGONS RUNNING!

The new Matrix cars are sort of like mini corolla-based wagons, but nothing close to what the tercel was. Reason toyota quit the tercel line was because the sales on it dropped. And back in the day, toyota had wayy too many lines that were all basically the same thing, they were too close together. So they decided to keep the corolla. I've seen tercels from 1997, and then i think they stopped production totally. Wish they'd make a nice 4-wheel or AWD fuel efficient wagon. Should be coming up sometime in the future with all this hybrid stuff, like that new accord v6 with 250 hp and it shuts off 3 cylinders when its not using all its power.

Subaru's are ok, my friend has a manual one and it drives alright - they're more reliable than any dodge or chrysler product if ya ask me.
