4WD selector shaft seal

Post by SynthDesign »

While cleaning out some old boxes I found a Unicorn.
Seal has be discontinued for a number of years.
What's the best way to go about finding a reasonable replacement available for all now that I have the original to compare to?

Oh wow, NOS treasures!

I would take it to a Grainger location, or another industrial supplier like Parker hoses and show it to them. They deal with this sort of thing all the time and if they don't have anything on hand, they're the best folks to suggest who to ask next.

I bought all the transmission seals from O'Reilly's in 2016, you can still find them there

I posted them in a thread here somewhere

there will be a part number on the seal from the original supplier. likely you can still buy it without the "toyota" packaging.

Any industrial bearing supplier (that usually also sells seals) can take measurements off of it and find a matching replacement. Usually they can just take the part number off of it and find a superseding replacement part. it is a standard part, I bought one a few years ago as a non-toyota generic part.

you might post the measurements and part numbers here when you get them.
