Parting out 1985 SR5 dark blue, San Diego

Post by trailerparkzero »

I'm parting out what's left of my nice 1985 dark blue Tercel and have some interior trim and other things from a 1983 Gold Tercel. If the parts are going to be picked up locally I will do local Pick Your Part pricing and am willing to make some negotiations for multiple parts. I'd prefer not to ship anything big but wouldn't turn down a reasonable offer for my time.

My beloved slayer of egos had some serious rust issues so I found a suitable body donor and decided to combine the two cars. The rust was pretty localized to the roof, gutters, columbs, hatch, and rear fenders. Too much salt water drained out of kayaks over the years. There were times in Baja when I was miles from any fresh water source and I witnessed the rust considerably grow in days. It would have been less work to fix that but I tend to learn the hard way.. I can tell you about the differences between CA and Federal cars and 83 to 85s now though!

Here's and idea what's left and in good shape from the 85 blue car:
  • doors (without interior trim or locks)
  • hood
  • right front fender
  • bumpers and lower exterior trim
  • windshield wipers and motors
  • grill
  • strock brakes (don't waste your time and upgrade to the Petros set-up.)
  • alternator
From the 83 gold car:
  • interior trim and dash
  • non-tilting steering column (w/o ignition asy)
  • L&R strut assemblies
  • exhaust
  • engine, 246K looks like it was experiencing a ton of blow-by
  • and more

Does either car have cruise control or an adjustable intermittent wiper switch? Inclinometers?

How are the seats in the blue car? Is is a DLX or an SR5?

Would you be interested in shipping the upholstery from the front seats?

Hey LowBuck. I should have been more clear that the seats are going in my project car.

If anybody can come trailer this car they can have it. I can throw in a transmission core (it was reported to be noisy but working). I just need to get this stuff out of here before my landlord comes down on me for turning his yard into the set of Sanford and Sons.

People need blue seats and gold panels, I've got blue panels and brown seats. Figures.

Autoorace: You may already know this but 1983 and 84 have the antenna on the left fender and 85 and up have it on the right. This might not always be true but something to be aware of.

Thank you. I was pondering plugging it if that was the case. It looks like I will have to paint any of them anyway as fading will also be an issue.

A good condition intermediate exhaust pipe, and a front seat bottom (brown and stripey, no plaid)?

Hi, looking for interior heat/cold and direction floor/vent/ bi-level and defrost panel. I need everything behind the panel with or without cables.
I broke the plastic housing that the sliding pivot ( interior behind dash ) point rest. I do need one with an AC button.
If you have one name your price with shipping.

Autooracle: Sorry, my friend who has a crumpled left front fender came and pulled it last weekend and hatch has almost reached entropy.

Hteverow: I wouldn't call it good condition, it's been chopped and re-welded a few times (I don't know why). I don't think it would be worth shipping across the country. Also, the seats are brown plaid.

PM sent to Buzzard.

Update: I really gotta get this car out of my driveway this weekend so I can hopefully take my project car for a test drive. If there's anything that'd be useful for me or other members in the future let me know and I'll pull em before the wrecker comes.

I will save all of the brown dash and interior trim parts, so if anybody needs them hit me up. I also have like 5 carburetor cores and dizzys if anybody wants parts for those.

I came down to S. Cal for parts. I can easily swing down. Unfortunate on the left front fender, but there are still some parts that will work. I'm in Anaheim now.
