WTB: Front Windshield Washer Pump

Post by The Professor »

The hoes from the pump blow clear and swapping the hoses front to rear gets me working wipers. I can hear the front pump when I push the button, but no fluid comes out.

Let me know what you've got! Thanks!

Have you tried clearing the nozzles out?

Professor,

It's been a few years, but I found a semi-generic pump at O'Reily's I believe that worked fine ($20). The only thing requiring attention was the electrical, I had to cut the wires and splice on the new "plug" or wire direct, I don't remember which.

I blew out the hoses then swapped the hoses from the front pump to the rear. The front windshield washers work now.... When I press the button for the rear pump.

Not really looking for a "universal" solution, just want an OEM front washer pump to replace the noisy, non-pumping pump I have now.

I'm assuming there are 2 pumps? Let me know so I can look into that. I don't have a wiper assembly in the hatch anymore and mine did work before I replaced the hatch. If there are 2 I'd be happy to give you mine.

From what I understand there are two pumps, each with a different electrical connector, so they cannot interchange.

if you hear the pump running but no fluid comes out, likely if you take the assembly apart and clean it out it will work again. consider there is 30 plus years of debries that has built up inside the container, and all odds are it has never been taken apart and cleaned.

I managed to luck out and there was a Tercel hatchback at the local yard. I nabbed both pumps, but I still need to test them. I will keep you in mind if they both fail the test.
