ISO Radio/Cassette Player

Post by Guthrie »

Hi there,

I'm in search of a radio/cassette player for my 87 wagon. The radio works great but the cassette player is pooched. Does anyone have one they'd be looking to sell or know if any other years are compatible?

Thanks.

I put a factory AM/FM cassette radio out of a '96 corolla in my '87 wagon (the good car.) Strictly plug 'n play- no needed mods to support brackets or wiring harness. Hope this helps.
if it aint there, there's a good chance it won't break!

If anyone has one of the double-din AM/FM/Cassette decks, I would be interested in buying it. After following the troubleshooting steps in the FSM, I've determined that my radio is dead.

what? Failed after only 30 years?

I am surprised mine is still working, just barley. lots of noise, pops, and static. the problem I have found with new aftermarket replacement radios is the AM reception always sucks (much worse than the old factory Tercel radio), I like listening to news and talk shows only on AM, but I do regularly listen to FM daily as well. so I want good AM reception for the mountainous are where I live.

^^^ Professor, I have a stock AM/FM/Cassette unit that I ran across when I was going thru my T4WD parts cache about a month ago. I don't know if it works or not. And, as I recall, the antenna wire had been cut.

If you're interested, I could look for it this weekend and get back to you.

As long as it's the double-din version that matches mine, I'd be interested.

Pretty sure mine is the double DIN size.

I'll get back to you, probably via PM, after checking this weekend.

Professor -- I checked, and unfortunately the unit I have is single DIN, and it's dinged up and in rough condition externally.

Obviously, my memory ain't what it used to be. My apologies for perhaps getting your hopes up.

Good luck in your search.

I've been looking for a new-old headunit as well, lately, but am putting off a purchase at the moment until I replace a few speakers.

Check these out--they might be right up your alley.
