PCV Grommet = Hood Rod Grommet

Post by ARCHINSTL »

I just replaced the PCV and its grommet and, being a good T4WD steward (aka packrat), did not discard the old grommet.
I noticed the hood lift rod grommet had mostly perished and the rod rattled, so - Hmmm...
It worked out great - in fact, better than the OE, as there is now more rubber on both the outside and the inside of the metal body member than before.
It did take a bit of persuasion from silicone spray and nudging with a small flat blade screwdriver, but it finally fit just fine.

Incidentally, the old grommet is also a perfect fit for the hold-downs for the air cleaner tabs to the cam cover on the OE aircleaner.

that is brilliant! I have been meaning to try and find a replacement for all of my T4wd (I am back up to 4 now), all of my hood support rod gromments are gone, looks like that will do it! Great discovery.
