Our 4wd tercel wagon style ran from 83 to 87, with various small changes along the way.

There are differences between models though, SR5, Deluxe, etc.

There are actually a few rare '88 model year Tercel4wd around, but the rumor is they were just using up parts from the last assembly line run of 1987. They were clearly phasing out the Tercel4wd by '87, the FWD versions were totally different cars (transverse engine, even uglier body style different from earlier version, etc.). By 1988 all of the models were switched over to EFI because of smog regulations (except the last of the Tercel4wd wagons).

So as a practical matter no new Tercel4wd were made since 1987. As Neu noted the run is '83-87 (or '88). Across the years there was minor changes in trim details, upholstery, and some mechanical specs (mostly emission control system). The '87-88 models went to the composite headlights similar to the all the European models, this changed the look of the grill quite a lot. All of the line from '83-86 look externally almost the same, they introduced some different colors each year, and the seat fabric patterns changed in '85, and again in '86, and '88. Almost all of the mechanical parts are interchangeable across the years.
'87 Tercel 4wd SR5 (current engine swap project)
'84 Tercel 4wd (daily driver, with on going mods)
'92 Mazda MPV 4wd (wife's daily driver)
'85 Tercel 4wd DLX auto(daughter's daily driver)
'01 Honda Civic (other daughter's daily driver)
