Junkyards near Portland Oregon

Post by deejay1272 »

Hi everyone,

I noticed that quite a few of the members of this forum are from the pacific northwest (Portland, Oregon) area so I thought I'd toss out a question to get some feedback on what junkyards are preferred for Tercel needs in this area. Does anyone have a favorite junk yard that they can suggest for me? Any info is certainly appreciated.

Cheers,
Dan

Around here it really depends on the junkyard. Pick a part on 99w near eugene has 2 87 tercels, B and R has one in eugene, that's it i think. It's pretty sparse around here right now...

in Turner, Oregon there's a tercel.

There was an 83 in the Damascus LKQ a couple weeks ago before I left for school. I like cruising down Columbia Blvd west a ways where all of the yards are, I'll spend a whole Saturday out there.

I just called the Tigard U-pull and they said that they have an '83 out there now. Let me know if it's worth my time to check it out!

Thanks,
Dan

YEP the tigard u-pull it has a gold 83 4wd, with tranny, less engine (as it was getting pulled sat when i found it).... interior is really nice in this car seats (brown basket weave) are 100% but wet lol....... i also found a 86 4x4, two terc hatch's and heard there was a 2wd wagon out there also....

and MAN if you need/want a set of tires and or nice stock wheels for ANYTHING go out there, there are stacks at the end of each row... lots of good tires/wheels

Hey Bleak - any chance you spotted a carb while you were out at the Tigard Upull?

If some one goes there soon, could you see if there is the driver's side headlight from the '87(the composite type), mine got whacked by a rock. I will pay you to get it, I do not need the mounting hardware or the element, just the housing.

There right now are four T4wd in the Arlington Pull-A-part, '83 through '87, just north of Everett in WA. No good headlights.

I'm tentatively planning on going there tomorrow morning. I'll have a look and see what I can find. It would also be a good idea for you to PM me if you get this so you can describe in greater detail what it is exactly that you're looking for.

Hey Bleak - I went to the Tigard U-Pull and had a pretty successful venture there. I found one of the Tercel 4WD cars, but not the second. Are you sure that there are two SR5's there? If so, can you give me any more detail about where the other one is hiding? I'm really looking for a navy blue Tercel wagon so I can pull a quarter panel off of it without thinking about paint. Any clues as to where I can score one of these?

While I was there, I found some speakers (mine were blown) and an extra carb off of a 3A-C Tercel 2-door hatch (that I plan to rebuild as a project) as well as some EGR valves, check valves, tubing, relays, fuses and a rack/pinion boot. I'm in the process of determining my need for some of these parts so I may be posting some for sale in the near future.

when i was there the two cars were down almost at the end (maybe three or four rows from the last lane) on the left side, one was only a couple cars in facing north, the other was half way down the same isle facing south (towards the building)...the one i was working on was further away from the center and it was a 4wd with the basket weave style seats.... engine was getting pulled...the one closer to the center just had its engine pulled as i was getting there and was pretty sparse for any other parts....

Yeah, I pulled some parts off of a tan T4WD with basket weave seats (in somewhat decent condition). This was the one that was facing south (towards the building) I think I'll go back and snatch up the windshield since it didn't have any cracks in it.

What color was the other model that you saw that was facing north?

Thanks,
DJ

Update: The Tigard Pick 'n Pull has a navy blue Tercel 2WD wagon (row 20 or 21 on the left, facing away from the building). I nabbed an axle off of this vehicle last weekend and noticed it had a 3A motor in it still. The tranny on this guy went bad, but everything else looked decent (except for the seats - they were all torn). The year appeared to be an '88, but I couldn't confirm this.

I'm going to make another trip out to the junk yard in a few more weeks to grab some body panels to replace my dented body parts (front passenger). If anyone has requests for parts, then please send them my way. I'll see what I can do to get you what you need.

Cheers,
Dan

I discovered this '85 DLX T4WD (auto transmission) at the bone yard yesterday (odo reads 256k):

Image

Image
(I took the radiator so that's gone)

Has:

rear cargo area cover (blue color)
Good glass everywhere
3A-U motor (probably a JDM because the hood diagram shows vac setup for a 3a-c)
rear seats in decent condition
Lots of good relays and fuses
Carpet is pretty shabby, but it's still probably better than most
Good instrument cluster (but it's the DLX)
I tried to get the heater blower motor, but it was near death, so consider this gone
Two good headlight bezels
Newish looking alternator
Newish looking starter motor
Complete grill (inside the car)
And a bunch of other seemingly good equipment!
