4A-GE

Post by 4x4wagon »

What all would it take to stick one in my Tercel? I found a complete one for $150 locally, and if I keep the wagon, this is going into it one way or another. Is there any certain parts I will need from either the MR2 or another car I will need to make it fit and work?

You're gonna need a complete harness and ECU from the donor, fuel system parts would be a good pull too (pump, pickup, etc)... You'll probably have to flare the stock Tercel hard lines and attach fuel injection rated hose to go to the rail and pressure side of the pump. I think you need a different flywheel, and the exhaust has to be custom to clear the steering rack.

There is a thread on this toppic, there are two of of this working it now. Go read up on it. What car did the engine come from? That is a great price, even if it needs rebuilding. The best version is the RWD corolla GTS one, it has the correct intake manifold for the Tercel4wd engine install. Otherwise you should see if you can find the intake manifold, everything else should work with a lot of messing around. The Tercel flywheel has to be altered to have it fit the 8-bolt 4AGE crank (the holes get welded up and new holes machined to match, see the thread).

This is still a costly thing to do because of the number of custom parts you need to make, or have made, but i think it is worth it to get rid of that underpowered obsolete 3ac.

Good luck.
