Anyone know the guy putting a 4age in his tercel?

There was a fellow on the tercel 4wd yahoo group who had bought a donor AE86 GTS and was going to transplant the 4age into his tercel 4wd. I don't think he had posted for quite a while on the yahoo 4wd forum since he mentioned starting his project. Has anyone heard from him or heard about his progress? It would be good if he could join the forum here...It would be even better if he could do a write up on the exchange, and let us know how it ran afterwards. I hope to do this sometime.

Your setup is VERY cool indeed!! I've made a couple of comments in one of the other threads.

I was refering to another fellow who was simply installing a largeport AE86 version 4age into his tercel. Nothing to crazy.

yup that was me....took 3 weeks of vacation to do it and didnt even start..went to paint house and found that ALL my masonite siding was rotten and the only thing holding it together was the paint...$1000.00 gone for vinyl siding and a week gone putting it up...dog catcher came and said i had to fix my fence cause my dogs got out twice and my neighbors a @!#@$ and called on me so there goes $1500.00 to hire a bulldozer to move my trees from hurricane isabel....$600.00 for 250 feet of chain fence and materials. $250.00 to rent a small tractor to fix the yard the bulldozer screwed up and another week wasted cutting, chopping and putting up the fence. have 7 cars and insurance bill came...cost $900.00. IRS got $500.00....just so much crap came up and its been raing and cold and well any way come this weekend ill start...supposed to be nice and i dont have a garage. im not taking vacation again....my money disappears and i dont get to do what i want to do.....hahahah

Maybe you can work on it on the weekends or something. It's kind of hard if you need the car to drive places though. Your project is not very hard to do since it's a RWD model of the 4A-GE engine and you have all the crap you need already - the wiring harness, ECU, and all the electrical stuff. The biggest pain in the ass will be the wiring, and you can get that partly sorted out before you start the swap. Then there's the exhaust, but the car can be running without the exhuast done and you may just want to take it to a custom exhaust shop and get them to bend an exhaust pipe for you. I've recently done some research and found that the older RWD 4A-GE flywheel probably fits the Tercel bellhousing just fine so that's one less thing to worry about.

Sounds like quite the bout of bad luck. Hope things start to work out better for you. When you do start working on it, please keep us posted. If you have any 4age specific questions, feel free to ask. I have had lots of experience with these engines.
