86 for sale

Post by otter63 »

OK, I'll probably regret it, but I'm moving to Hawaii, and can't afford to ship 4 cars at $1,000 apiece . . . Here's my posting on craigslist.

Someone on this forum should really buy it, so we can keep it in the family.

You think she would make the drive cross county to Ontario, Canada?

Do you have anymore pictures?

I'd be very interested in picking up another tercel.
Problem is if your in the states getting the paper work to
transfer into canada might be a problem. I've heard it is a
big deal. I'm in Victoria BC. I'd buy it right now if I did'nt
have to deal with that paper work.

I wounder if there is an easy way to do it?

cool,
I always assumed any car from another province or country
had to be inspected to make sure it's up to par? I always assumed
getting it inspected they would find a few things wrong then you'd
have to have that stuff repaired ect before it could be imported.

I'm only going on the information givin to me by my friend when he
purchased a Ninja from the states and had to pay a bill over a grand
to get it all delt with.

Depending on the end bill perhaps it would'nt be worth it for an older car?

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't drive to Ontario. It has an oil leak, but I drive it on the freeway all the time.

I heard recently that minimum age of a car that is availible for import is going up to 25 years from 15 yrs. I am not sure if that applies to US cars or eurpoean, asian, etc.

I think that the ease of importing/transferring a vehicl is proportional to the quality/condition of the car as well. ie. cracked windshield=replacement

Seattle to Van would be a breeze. Just take that Port Angles ferry

Good luck
Driver: '86 4wd Tercel Wagon
Fun: '98 BMW M3 sedan

Now I have the best of both worlds!

That applies only to car imported from out side of North America.

I really want this car. I'm trying to figure out the logistics to get it here.

I have four interested people coming over tomorrow to look at it. I'm trying to make sure they'll be good to it if they buy it. I'm also starting to get a serious case of seller's remorse.

Not selling right now!!!

Post by otter63 »

OK, I have decided not to sell the Tercel until the end of March. I may need it to go skiing, and it'll be very useful during the move. And besides, this car is so awesome!

So I guess this will give people in Canada a little time to research the importation question.

I do not know. We don't have an emissions testing requirement in Island County.
