Holley 5200
Holley 5200
Ok. So I have an issue. I went and had to get the oddball 5200. Holley knows nothing about it other than "It fits 80-82 Ford and Mercury applications. Have a nice day." and it was a 79 Pinto. lol.
It has a funky filter flange. Looks like I might have to go custom on this one guys. Anyone have any recommendations for shaping things?
Sorry for the dark pix.
So its close to the same as a DFEV, but it has a larger bowl vent opening.
Anyone have thoughts on how I could get a good filter on this puppy?

im suprised it did not come with a filter. i suggest using the stock filter, or modding a weber DGEV to fit it.
oh, also try these sites:

jegs & summit racing have a lot of carburetor stuff, because they're aimed towards older cars.

Remember, I pulled it from a salvage yard. I was expecting everything to go over smooth, buy a KN or similar ovular or rectangular filter, and call it good. Didn't think I'd actually need the Pinto's cleaner assembly. Besides, I think it'd end up being too tall to close the hood.

Looks like a DFV series carburetor. Filters available at

or

I think the F stands for Ford, but I could be wrong.

(sigh)
Heres my problem-
Look at the top of my carb. Sorry if you have to turn moniter brightness up. See the outline of the area around the bowl vent and barrels? Now look at a DFV. Can you not see the difference?
With mine, the foot-ball shaped outline does not wrap around the bowl vent. The bowl vent is also not centered between the 2 barrels. Its more fat and offset. The foot-ball shaped outline does not go all the way around. See what I'm saying?

The 2nd being the best straight-down shot. See the way the "football" goes all the way around? Not the case with mine.
Brightened it up a bit.
That clear it up a bit?

I could see that the "football" didn't go all the way the way around, what I wasn't sure of was whether the vent went outside the "football's" footprint. It looks like it does. If you had to trim the base piece a little, I think this would be a closer fit to begin with, less trimming.
Does this help?

Dunno. This is what the filter spacer/gasket looks like on that particular carb-
So it stretches out past the protrusion seen just past the bowl vent. Kind of odd, eh?
Might just have to resort to tin snips...
