Here are the two fans side by side, the one from the US manual with A/C on the left, and the one from the Canadian manual without A/C on the right.

As I found out looking at them side by side, the stronger fan is actually bigger in diameter. The extra motor power goes into moving a larger blade at the same speed, giving more total air flow. The larger fan is only the middle one out of the 3 available, so there is an even better one on the US automatics. I have the bigger fan in there now.
