I'm picking up the 3AC for my 86 tercel today! Can't wait to get it and start installation on the weekend. It's a long weekend for us in Canada this weekend; so hopefully I'll get the engine in and the 86 on the road. I'll be picking up the engine with my 87 tercel. I've put some 3/4" plywood in the back to help distribute the weight. It'll be interesting to see how it handles it. I imagine the engine weighs in around 250lbs-300lbs.

I had 10 40 lb bags of top soil in the back one time...mostly over the rear axle. She sat a little low, but I had no problems.
Might want to tie that engine down someway?
You are getting awfully industrious...making the rest of us look like slackers.

Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.

The engine will do fine even without the 3/4" plywood. I'm sure I've had a 3A-C in the back of my old car at least once. I didn't even know it was a long weekend until you reminded me. I guess I'll have to do something. My friend gave me $40 for fixing his door handle and rear window defogger, so I may actually be able to do something. Good luck with the engine.
The 4ac longblock I put in my Tercel was superlight. I believe that without accesories and odds and ends (valvecover, oil pan, etc) it weighed in under 150lbs. It is amazing how small these engines are. I cleaned my garage this past weekend, and could lift it up (the old block and head) by myself, and I am not Joe Buffguy.
