I've been considering repainting my Tercel this summer as there is some correction I need to do from when I did some body work last year.
I do like the current color, steel blue metallic (8D7), but there are a few colors I've been looking at. I also finally got my hands on the proper gear
to paint a car rather than relying on rattle cans like I did the first time.
The first color I'm considering is Toyota 1E9, this is a deep silver color shared on the Hilux, Landcruiser, and 4Runner.
The next color is Toyota Hot Lava Metallic. A friends mom has this color on her Rav4 and I love how it pops in the sun. Code is 4R8
The only non Toyota color I'm considering is Honda Amethyst Pearl. A good friend had his EM1 Civic resprayed this color and I think it's stunning.
Code is PB-74P
Last color I'm considering is one I actually almost used last year before keeping the same color.
This is Toyota Super White 2, code 040-40 and it was used on almost any Toyota that was white, and I think it looks really good on these Tercels.

Re: Thoughts on some paint
all look great, but personally I would stay away from the metallic type paints. I prefer solid colors for several reasons: it is easier to fix scratches and oxidation by polishing, easier to match to paperer, and I think is typically more durable as far as holding up to being in the sun for decades, a solid paint will look good for years to come

Re: Thoughts on some paint
For sure on the solids. The white would be really easy to repair if anything happened since 040-40 is a very generic white. The glamor of that color
come from the clear more than anything. Plus the solid color would match the era a lot better.

That Hot Lava Metallic sure would look nice on a Tercel wagon though.

For sure!
I might save using that color for another project soon.

Re: Thoughts on some paint
I was thinking about spray on bed-liner if I ever decide to paint my 37-year old faded and stained “Super White” Tercel. Not sure where that falls on the trashy/classy spectrum, but I like the idea.

that can look very "modern" if you apply it only below the trim line, and around the fender flairs. kind of Hummer looking, the little tercel can use all of the muscle it can get.
