Air Condiotioner Temp Controller

Post by Jonymoto »

I have the attached air conditioner rpm setting controller in my spare parts kit. Does anybody know where it is located on the Tercel?

I checked the FSM. It is called the AC Amplifier. Located below the glove box. I guess you guys on the American Continent wouldn't need one of these right now going by some of your recent posts.

as I recall, in North America they put a little solenoid on the throttle plate shaft that advances the idle when the AC goes on to prevent it from stalling at idle, it accommodate the extra loading in the engine when at idle.

A higher idle setting is a better solution, but that would use a few grams more of fuel when driving in heavy traffic without the A/C engaged. Like most idiotic solutions to these kinds of problems it can be traced to our federal government brilliant requirements. On the few A/c equipped tercels I have had I usually end up removing this solenoid and resetting the linkage settings. simple solution.
