Professor,

I may be off, but looking at the IP address, it looks like he is in Poland.

you pretty well have to find a doner and go to manual as thats all they had in Europe. Talk to some of the other european active members on here perhaps they can help you locate the parts.

There is nothing in Europe at the moment. I would consider buy donnor car from US. But must be close to shopping point. Florida, or California the best. Maybe you have something?

Hey Lukas,

I didn't have much time over lunch, but here are four members in Europe that have posted in the last 6 months that may be able to help.

FRQ - Belgium, active this week

Folian - Sweden, active this week

Jojje-swe - Sweden, last active 8/2018

martin.lenz87 - Austria, last active 12/2018

Belen - Greenland, last active 1.5 yrs ago

You should be able to send emails to these folks and reach them, even if they haven't been on this site recently.

Welcome to the forum,

Sorry about your trouble, we may be able to find a transmission here for you but it may take a while.

There was a forum member from Greenland or somewhere similar that would look for Tercel4wd parts along the hwy between the cities because people would abandon their old cars there since the population was so small. The tercel4wd was popular there so he could always find parts cars along roads out side the city. He even posted pictures of a number or Tercels abandoned along the, roads there.

I recall several forum members consider an expedition there to try and salvage the many well preserved Tercel4wd abandoned there.

Might be a good place to look. Finding an automatic 4wd in North America will take a while, if at all. These trans for the T4wd, of any type, are getting hard to find.

I would keep trying nettiauto in finland and the swedish version and buy a complete car that is not working and use it for parts to make manual. The auto was never available so you will need clutch etc.

There's a few to choose from on http://www.car-part.com/ if your not afraid of some steep shipping fees.

Thanks so much for your help guys. This is really nice. Now I have something, I can start looking. By the way. Is automatic transmission as that bad, so everybody swapping them for manual? I'm just affraid if I do that, the car will lose originality, and value. I'm right or wrong?

Lukas,

I certainly can't speak to car values in Poland, but in the US, while somewhat difficult to find, these cars run in the $1,500 to $3,500 price range. Some pristine examples will go for big money, but 95% of the Tercels sold in the US today are sold for less than $3,500. And here, folks would prefer the manual transmission to the automatic regardless of originality. With the under powered engine, the MT makes the car perform a little better. Highway speeds are typically 70-75 mph here as well, which runs the AT cars at higher RPMs due to gearing and the economy nature of the car creates significant road noise at higher speeds.

Id'e find a good a/t rebuilder buy a trany kit , and rebuild the trany, a kit shouldn't be that hard to come by. Swaping from a/t to a manual trany is not a walk in the park, Id'e go the rebuilding process. Larry
