Valve adjustment?

Post by NWMO »

Hey all,

I see the method for “hot” valve adjustment, but didn’t know if there was a “cold” adjustment for rebuilds? I’m pretty certain I cleaned the rockers from one engine and put on the rebuilt head from another, didn’t know if I should back everything off a turn? switched to 272 grind on cam as well. Slow, but sure.

TIA,

Chris

cold valve settings
.007 intake
.011 exhaust
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

I find that setting them cold seems to result in one or two "ticking", does not harm anything, just annoying. after you drive it for a few days, if any ticking developed, than recheck the valve clearance "hot".

when I do it to "hot" settings, valve train is much more silent.

you always want to follow up with "Hot" settings (intake .008, exh .012)
Cold settings are for when you have no choice
like an engine re-build etc
