Is this hub okay?

Post by BaileySims »

It's a bit bigger on the bottom than it is on the top. Just want to know if this is how it's supposed to look or is the hub no lonher good? Thanks.

Seems that it is real bad. Does anyone have a good hub kicking around? I cant find one anywhere. Unless one from another model or year would fit? Thanks.

Its bad
Could be welded up and machined to fix it but would be expensive. For sure Any tercel 83-88 sedan or wagon would be the same. Maybe some earlier years might work too. Like 81-82 sedan/hatchback?
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

I would consider using it by cleaning up with sand paper to smooth it out. that is where the seal rides, dust and grit grinds it away to form that groove. it does not hold any pressure, it is where the dust seal rides. so if you can clean it up with wet n dry paper, to eliminate a sharp lip, likely it should work fine.

By looking at mine and comparing it to a picture online, it's supposed to be the same thickness. The outer race won't press onto that narrowed down end. I'm on my 3rd bearing in two weeks and figured that was the cause. I did find a set on ebay but it said it did not fit the wagon, only sedans and hatchbacks from 88 to 92 or something.

I bought the one I linked and it doesn't fit. If anyone has one laying around, I'd like to purchase it to get my car back on the road. Thanks.
