Finally got an alignment!

Post by NWMO »

Hey all,

As most are probably aware, I’m chasing a JY 4ac engine as my motor has layed down on me. However, I finally got an alignment and my big tires/wheels all around. No blocks for the lift, just Pathfinder springs in the rear and a slightly heavier spring in the front. Went to a different mono-shock in the rear and used the stock inserts in the front when I put the heavier springs on. I love the taller stance. Here are a couple of pics with a guys basketball.

Hey NWMO,

Does it matter if the rear pathfinder springs are from a 2wd or 4wd? I've been searching all over and can't find the answer, figured this was a good spot to ask.

Abletobecain,

I would check part numbers etc., but I expect the 2WD Pathfinder springs would not be the same as the 4WD Pathfinders.

Chris

PS - After looking some this morning, I don't see any references to different springs for the 2WD vs 4WD. That being said, you are looking for Moog247 springs for the rear.

Thank you sir. Nearly $60 from my junk yard and $80 after shipping from Rockauto. Think I'll get new ones. While I'm at it I think I'll get the rest of the components to lift the whole thing...then tires...never ending upgrades. :)

Hey Chris, another question for ya. Can I put the Monroe ma700s in with these springs?

I have about 100lbs of stuff in my rooftop box which is at the rear half of the roof and my dog weighs 160lbs and isn't done growing yet. I'm thinking I might want to run both and have more options.

Abletobecain,

Can’t speak to the air shocks, but I will say the Pathfinder springs are pretty stout. I’ve hauled 200-300 lbs of water softening salt with no issues, sag, etc.

My car does feel more like a truck for ride quality, which is fine with me.

Ok NWMO,

So you went with Moog 247 springs in the rear (from a pathfinder), but can you explain to me what you did specifically in the front? Thanks.

Also, any negative effect on your CV axles, or is the lift not high enough to warrant any problems there?

Moog 81043 springs in the front, stock spec KYB inserts in front struts. Nothing else done, no problems to date.

Hey Chris,

I looked through some of your older posts and I couldn’t quite find it... How much overall lift did this set up give you?

I am still running stock tire size on my 13” wheels for now, hoping it won’t look too silly until I have bigger wheels & tires.
I ordered the Moog 81043 coils and new KYB 363037 cartridges. I am leaning towards the Moog 247 coils for the rear but have not ordered yet. Also, what shocks did you go with for the rear?

Anything helps

Tercy,

Sounds good! I went with a slightly longer mono-shock in the rear after the Pathfinder springs.

I believe I have 1.5” or so of lift over original stock height. It lifted more than that however, because things were sagging some. Good luck and share some pics!

ol.molasses,

No, I didn't do it with the lift. However, when the mounts rusted off, I removed instead of repairing.
