Rear wiper arm park position

Hi again,
Just curious about where the wiper arm is supposed to park on my 86 SR5 wagon. Some photos of other cars show the arm parked in the horizontal position and on others, like mine it is parked on the left in more or less a vertical position. Did the wiper arm park position vary from various years or is there standard position?

Yep, I think it was '86 models onwards that have the vertical 'park' position. Maybe something to do with snow or ice buildup?

'86 and up rear wipers park in the vertical position so as to not obstruct the center stop light.

might be another Canadian thing, all of the 2wd wagons ive seen have the wiper up on window, the 4wd the wiper is down, even my 88 parts buggy is down

My '87 4WD has the vertical rear wiper.

Mine stops where ever it sits when I turn the button off. I usually try to stop it horizontal.
