cracked exhaust manifolds are normal on these cars. I looked at perhaps 50 Corollas in various wrecking yards looking for a good used replacement, all were cracked. I think the design lends itself to cracking between the 2 and 3 runners IIRC. If the crack is not too large, and not noticeably loud I would just leave it, when it warms up it mostly closes up. Badly cracked and leaking should be replaced of course.

yes, this is very common, In Australia, I know of four people with these cars all have had extractors put on as the manifolds have cracked - usually as the engine mount gets old the weight of the front of the engine rests on the manifld. You do get a bit more power and economy though with the after market ones though. Be careful with using non ae95 replacement manifolds as not all of them will fit under the ae95 transfer case.

we have a community on alltracwagon.net that might help you out as well

Yeah I ended up replacing the cracked manifold with a new one. Local parts store actually stocked a complete kit for $110 with a lifetime warranty. Fit perfectly. I do need to replace the front flex pipe now. It separated at the flex joint and the pipe when I was removing the manifold. Go the manifold side off easily but the back flange looks like it has been in the ocean for years.

So I am wanting to buy a set of aluminum wheels for the new All-Trac . I am going with a set of 14 inch wheels and was wondering what tire size to go with? I see that the factory option was a 185/65R14, are there any other options that anyone would suggest? The car is an automatic so I don't want to make the car over work too much extra by having to spin a larger tire but I don't want the 13 inch wheels anymore.

i don't think any ae95's came stock with 14" wheels. all the ones i've seen, even the JDMs, came with either steel or alloy 13" wheels. stock tire size on mine is 185/70r13—not very common but equivalent sizes in 14" and 15" rims are very common. i picked up some 15" miata wheels that i plan on putting rubber on once the all seasons on my 13" stock alloys wear out. then i'll use the 13"s for winter tires.

i've seen some good pics of 15" wheels on ae95's with stock suspension on the alltracwagon.net forum but can't find them now, can just find the ones with modified suspension. anyway i think they looked really good. i believe the tire that was used was the same overall diameter, which is the route i plan on going.

I am not looking to up my tire size. I would just like to up the wheel size to get rid of some of the wishy washy feeling when driving with a tire having such a large side wall. Just like the Terc...I would like to put 14 inch wheels on that too for the same reason. I got the 14 inch tire size option off of the Les Schwab website.
