KYB Front Numbers, Pricing, & a Source

Post by ARCHINSTL »

I just received the KYB shtuff.
Ordered from http://www.shockwarehouse.com in FL. Ordered 1008 and received 1011.
Free FedEx ground shipping, at least through 1031.
Best pricing I found.

NOTE that some sites show #363030 as the correct cartridge for the 4WD, but that is for the 2WD, per KYB (and Shockwarehouse); the 4WD is #363037. These listed below are the official KYB numbers, as well as being the ones this vendor uses.

SM5067 Front Mount ..............2 @ 46.21 = 92.42
363037 Front Cartridge ..........2 @ 44.67 = 89.44
SB103..Front Bellows/bumper...2 @ 14.89 = 29.78
Total USD $ 212

I also queried KYB, as the directions mention dumping the old oil, but nothing about adding any oil/ATF, as is often mentioned (also asked about clunking). Its reply:
The OE cartridges come with oil in the housing and they use it for heat reduction reduction as where our struts do not require oil to be in the housing because of our design we do not have an issue with heat reduction. We suggest that all oil is removed.
As for the knocking I have never heard of an issue with them and if it is a problem in the bottom it sounds like they may need to add spacers.

I guess it's a matter of installing and seeing if they need spacers? Hate to do it twice, though.

PS: Also will be installing new front springs - kinda generic Duralast/TRW(?) FCS212V from AutoZone - $79 the pair - from b & m store - not online.
EDIT - No spacers needed.
