$300 4wd 85 wagon Boise

Post by cromagmom »

Ad says bad compression on one of the cylinders. If I can figure out how to get it to my house and get the OK from my landlord, I may be able to hold this for someone.

not likely a cracked head, but just a head gasket. that can be fixed in 4 hours with only about $30 worth of parts and supplies, if it was not so cold there right now, might be worth going there, replacing the head gasket, and driving it back here to re sell it.

no picture, so can not tell what condition the rest of it is in. it does not sound like it can be driven very far, so it would be hard to tell what else it needs until you can driving more. wonder how many miles, cond of seats and paint, etc. SR5?

Someone should go lookat it. if the trans is good it is worth the price along, but this looks like a fairly easy one day fix.

Knowing my track record, that would take me a double the time, at least. Tempting to let it sit around until my schedule is less crazy and the weather warms up a bit. I'll try to take a look at it this weekend.

I have owned as many as four at one time, but I am down to "only" two. one is my daily driver, which needs an engine tear down to find out why compressino is really low in two cylinders, and a long term project car (garage queen) that I am planning a 4age swap, and suspention and brakes up grades, but too far away from being ready to be useful as a spare car.

we live 2.5 miles from a bus stop, and ten miles from town/gas, public transportation, food, etc. So I have to have a reliable running spare car or I am stuck, which costs me big bucks in income, not to mention all of the other things I need at home.

Fair enough. Mine used to be my daily before I crunched it. It wasn't always 100% reliable (thank god for push starting), which wasn't that great because I'm 20 mins away from anything. Though the new Subaru solves that little issue
