85 Tercel 4WD, 6 speed manual, white, $800 OBO

Price negotiable

Why: I don't have time to mess with it now, and my parents' feelings get hurt whenever I work on it anyway. Zach decided he'd never be able to learn to drive manual (???). I really don't want to get rid of it, but I have nowhere to keep it and I can't work on it at Zach's house.

The new:
Rebuilt engine
New plugs/wires
New AGM battery w/ custom bracket
New battery cables
PO got rid of fusible links, I installed slo-blo fuses of the same amperage
New wheels/tires
New steering wheel
New shocks/shock inserts (FWD Corolla all trac front inserts, Thunderbird rear shocks)
New rear springs (Nissan pathfinder lift setup)
Weber carb
K&N electric fuel pump
Holley fuel pressure regulator
New front brake hoses with new brake fluid that was flushed until clear
New heater core
New clutch
Resurfaced flywheel
New CV axle boots
New CV axle seals
Front diff cover is resealed with RTV
New splined lug nuts

The bad:
Front Struts have something knocking against the insides of the strut towers; I think it's the springs hitting something
Took me forever to get the front camber to STOP CHANGING WHILE I DRIVE and I'm not sure I ever corrected the problem
Front horn needs to be replaced or wired in, I forget
Electric fuel pump switch is currently under the hood as I couldn't get a tapped wire to successfully activate the relay coil for fuel pump on w/ ignition on
I wasn't able to replace the rear brake hoses due to rust
No stereo in it
No front speakers
No rear speakers
Did not reinstall the emissions computer and am not sure the EVAP system was even working anyway
Had to take rear seat out because we were going to replace the carpet
No front grill; PO had some front bumper auxiliary lights on it and warped the front bumper horribly, and the front end needs to be squeezed together for everything to line up
Hood release cable was gone
Tie rod ends need replaced
This sure is a mess, making this list makes me sad
TWO HOLES rusted through rear floor pan, one on either side of the driveshaft in front of the rear bench
Whoever repainted this car did a really spotty job at it
Has an unusual amount of rust on underbody, but the only bad places are fasteners and those two holes in the floor
Door locks don't lock with the doors closed, except the back hatch and fuel door
Rear view mirror attachment thing fell off
This is an SR5, but at some point the 6 speed was swapped for a 5 speed. Mechanic ripped off all the wires and now 4WD, lo gear, and e-brake lights are nonfunctional. I think they are repairable
Fuel pump wires need to be routed inside
Windshield washer system being nonfunctional has never been diagnosed
A/C compressor is locked up
Had to cut the condenser off the A/C lines
Power steering system works but leaks and I never diagnosed it

If someone put in a five speed, won't it just be a 2WD?

It has a rear output shaft. Maybe the 6th speed is supposed to be extra low gear (while I never tested for proper operation). I'm not really familiar with the idea of the extra low thing except for how to engage it.

if it still has 4wd, than it is the six speed trans. he may have put the wrong year in it and the connectors did not match (which is more likely), but it can be made to work if someone took the effort.

The real important issue is if they put the wrong year trans in it, did they swap out one or the other differential assembly so the front and rear ratios match? If not, than some more work and parts are needed to make this Tercel actually usable in 4wd.

It goes into 4WD and back again. The more accidentally you engage the FWD-4WD lever, the more easily it switches...lol

But yeah, I have driven it in both modes and there don't seem to be any issues.

that is really a great price for all included, even though it is still a project to be completed.

is the car driveable? or would it have to be towed to a place where the rest of it finished up?
