1987 Deluxe in Logan, UT $6,900

Too bad it's not a 4wd SR5. Price seems steep even with it's condition, but I'm no expert.

We have a metallic "brown" one that has 60K miles and a blown engine so we were curious what it would be valued at once repaired, we got her for 350$. From what we've seen from ebay and other sales they can go upwards of 3.5~K in the right market. The asking price in that ad is indeed high but sometimes you get a random nut who will pay that price.

One on ebay just like ours but 80k miles went for $4500 or so!

yes but ebay has a much larger customer base than a classified ad or used car dealer. i think that is the best route to go with a car like this that has such a small niche market.

I would be so tempted to ebay ours, but I think we'll end up driving her to death instead.

I probably need to find a spare FWD auto transmission now that I think about it...

a 30 year old econo-box with auto trans, even in good condition and low miles, is not worth that much. Even if it was a 4x4, it would not be worth that much. that is likely more than it was new. they are playing the stupid used car price gamble, that some fool just might come by and fall in love with it and lay down before them.(it will not happen). I worked at the used car lot at a big dealer once many years ago, the management is mentally ill, lost all connection to reality, and have no clue how to relate to customers. this why so many people hate car salesmen. They likely only paid $900 for it at best, and are gambling on the mythical senseless customer who loves ugly old econo-boxes from the '80's to come in and pay up. It does not occur to the dim-witts that everyone else that drives by their lot will not even stop to look at any car on the lot because the prices are insanely high. Why stop and look at anything if you have to negotiate with crazy people? So they loose most of their sales hoping they will get lucky with that one that actually my pay it.

I have had these discussions with my supervisor when I worked for a car dealer, there was no getting through their invincible stupidity. I was fired a week later because I refused to go along with their mindless games that everyone hates. No loss, they could not sell a life boat to a drowning man. the dealer went bankrupt a number of years later.

No need to be nice about it...that's WAY too much for that car, even being a beloved Tercel wagon.

I sold a beautiful 86 goldie from Cali. with low miles and sunroof and alum wheels (like new car) to someone on this site (in Mn.) for $2500. I didn't feel the need to be greedy, just made a few bucks to make it worth my time and effort.

$6900 give me a break
