T4wd for sale on another forum I'm on...

This forum is for cars that run, or at least are close to running. This isn't for parting out complete cars.

Very little rust in a part of the country where that's rare.

Selling my 86 Tercel 4WD. Rebuilt motor and carb ~40K miles ago. Runs well, great in snow even with worn all-seasons. Decent heat, radio works, new speakers in rear, four total. Comes with lots of spare parts, including two (2) motors! And a Chilton's shop manual. Rattle-canned paint job, but lots of attention to detail, including removing parts for painting. Rust is minimal. Comes with trailer drop hitch, 2" ball and working flat-four connector. Recent battery, maybe a year or less, and not a cheap one either. ~30 MPG hwy. Full-size spare, + another complete set of so-so tires on 14" steelies.

New KYB Gas-Adjust shocks on rear; front struts are good.
New complete tune-up and valve cover gasket.

I will CL it for $1400, but for Festivites it's $1000. Until Saturday

The bad:
A/C needs purging and charging. I do have the conversion pieces to go to R134.
Needs new steering boots. They come with the car, just haven't installed 'em yet.
Will need a right rear bearing. Parts are available for ~$50. Still drivable though.
Only one parking brake cable, the other is broken. Parts = $12.
260K with no end in sight....

Emma - is this Tom __?__ in St. Louis?
He has been big into Festivas for many years, owning many and modding a few dramatically. He's a retired military bachelor. I think he is/was an officer of the Midwest Festiva Club.
He bought the Terc as sort of a lark from a guy in the next County.
The only time I saw it was exactly a year ago - he'd painted it a sort of cammie-green.
He posted here quite a few times, but then dropped off the map.
See his posts here: http://www.tercel4wd.com/search.php?aut ... 8&sr=posts
If this is the Tom, I have his phone number if anyone wants.
To me, judging from last year - it's more of a $1000 car than a $1400 car...

Hi Tom M, yes this is the other Tom M in STL. I'm trying to reduce my fleet of cars, and unfortunately something's gotta go. But if it doesn't sell, I won't be heartbroken. Awesome winter car, and just rusty enough (despite my non-professional bodywork efforts) to not worry about it. For whomever it may concern, my phone # is (314) 288-7272. $1000 is the price on this forum. I have ~$1500 into it with one thing and another, but decided on $1400 for CL because everyone wants to talk you down, and $1500 might be a bridge too far for the unwashed masses (i.e., not Tercel-nutjobs).

BTW other-Tom, I'm wondering if you would be willing to help me do the rear wheel bearing. I buy the parts from that dealer in Indy, get things prepped, and you come over and help me get it back together. Only because it's a little more involved than simple Festiva rear bearings, for example, and you have experience with this job. I would be happy to pay you a "consulting fee" for helping out. (If I do get this done, the price will go up $100.)

Let me see if I can get pics up:

Edit: I just had it safety-inspected today, because I need to renew plates before the end of the month, if/when it doesn't sell by then. I haven't put it on CL yet. I don't like dealing with all that. I will probably stick For Sale signs on it and drive it around to get exposure when I run errands.

The amount of parts that come with the car would fill the car and a 4x8 trailer too! Gotta get more room in my little garage.

that car looks like a great buy for $1000, needing a bearing or not.
