And So The Mantle Passes...

Post by ARCHINSTL »

Alas, I am no longer #2 :( : the mantle has now passed to Petros the Penultimate Poster.
takza is still the King, but the Pretender is closing in.

P.S. While OT, I edited my post in the "Jump Start Problem" thread; the language was convoluted and easy to misunderstand.

Whoa there, Pilgim (as John Wayne used to say)!
ALL of my Irish paternal relatives fled the yolk of the Brits; half during the Potato Famine and the other half during one of the financial crises of the 1890s.
I don't think anyone outside "the fold" married into the clan until Dad married Mom in 1939 (she was Alsatian/French, which caused "some concern" among the more lace curtain Irish relatives...).

many brits still refer to the USA as one of the "colonies". My parents came from Greece about 60 years ago, so no relation to former monarchies (the greeks invented "democracy", too stubborn to follow someone else is my guess why they had to invent it).

In "modern times," Greece was a monarchy from 1832 to 1924, when it was abolished. It was again a monarchy from 1935 until 1974.
OT, but the UK's Prince Philip was born into the Greek Royal Family, but his bunch was exiled when the first monarchy was kicked out.
