Re: Larry's tercel gets a 20v Black Top

I might be taking my latest tercel out to montana later this year. What part of Montana are you in? I spent time in Butte and I'd be visiting that area.

Re: Small RPM cycle at idle

After going over everything with some carb cleaner the only leak I found was around my master cylinder/brake booster mating surface. I made a new gasket for that and there doesn't appear to be a leak anymore. The RPM cycle, so far, is gone. My idle is also pretty consistently at 900-1000rpm now.

Re: Another Brake Issue

I ordered two wheel cylinders and I'm gonna replace them. That was on my list of parts to replace anyway so I'm just gonna do them. The pedal does lose pressure after 10 or so seconds of being pressed, so there is a leak somewhere. I haven't had the drums off since I was last in there so I'm not qui...

Re: Another Brake Issue

I adjust 'em out 'till there's a slight drag against the drum. +1. If pulling up on the hand brake doesn't do much and the cable is adjusted as far as it will go, either the shoes are not close enough to the drums (like Rich mentioned, they should make a slight scraping sound when you rotate the dr...

Re: Another Brake Issue

I did adjust them and the shoes are the correct width/diameter.

I'll take another look but shouldn't they auto adjust anyway?

Another Brake Issue

Heyo, so i have soft brakes and I've been troubleshooting it. My symptoms are pretty simple: 1. the e-brake barely works at all. 2. The initial press of the brake pedal is soft. it goes down about 80% and works okay. A quick second pump will get it to engage at about 20% and the brakes work great. 3...

Re: Repairing that awful fuel sender unit

So my fuel gauge works pretty well but the top half is mostly useless. It drops from full to about half within 40 miles but from there on out it's pretty accurate. The warning light works fine. I figured I'd try and clean the contacts real quick and this is what I found. 20210717_131851.jpg So I may...

Small RPM cycle at idle

Hey y'all,

i tried searching but couldn't find anything related.

I have a mild rpm cycle at both cold and warm idle. My idle sits around 1100rpm once warmed up. Occasionally it will "cycle" about 100-200rpms. They're quick little cycles.

Any ideas? It's probably an easy fix.

Thanks.

Re: New Terdcel

Thanks everyone! It's nice to be back and enjoying the resources that this forum has. I had it up on a lift yesterday and discovered that the passenger cv is leaking a bit, so that will need to be replaced in a lil while. Also the exhaust header is leaking a bit and there's a leak at the rear end of...

Re: New Terdcel

I also figure I'll mention the fact I did the Gambler 500 in this car and the only thing that went wrong was the exhaust somewhat fell off near the cat. It sucks but I'll replace it. Otherwise this car DESTROYED at the gambler. I was crawling up things that jeeps were having troubles with. Because o...

New Terdcel

Hey y'all. I finally picked up a new tercel. This is an '85 that I grabbed for $2200 a few months ago. It grew up out in vermont but eventually moved to Seattle sometime in the 2000s. There is some body rust but nothing to worry about here in the west. It's in incredible shape. The only issues would...

Re: In line fuse for just the rear Hatch Light?

Yeah Petros I went back in and did the same thing. The solder stopped working after a few days. I'd figure vibration probably loosens the connections.

Re: In line fuse for just the rear Hatch Light?

Hey buzzard, I just stumbled upon this thread upon searching for a solution to my problem. My rear dome light wasn't working, while my center dome light was. The door turned on the center dome light so I knew the switch was fine. I grabbed my multimeter and tested the rear dome light. I was getting ...
