i replaced the clutch and pressure plate around 60,000 miles ago. it is slipping in 5th gear occaisionally when climbing a hill at high speed.
since it does not do it every time i wonder whats going on?
it chatters now and then when letting the clutch out too.

Re: It makes the white smoke...
the . The problem is that the leak persists along with the white smoke, and what;s worse, my heater still sucks. What is the problem? GP you say it leaks. is that a visible leak? if not i would guess you have a leaking head gasket allowing the engine to burn water with gas thus causing the white sm...

blown headgasket and more
On the way to work last week my Tercel blew the headgasket between # 1 and #2 cylinders. I made it to work ok and figured I could make it home (18 miles) that evening. I only made it half way home when clouds of white smoke began to pour out the exhaust pipe along with some loud knocking sounds comi...

I realize that in the past you have recommended that the solenoid with the single wire should be on the outside/passenger side and the dual-wire solenoid be on the inside/driver side. However, the AZ site as well as the other 3AC/4AC carbs I investigated on eBay all had their duals on the o/s and t...

Typrus, now that I think about it, I agree, neutral, engine off and 4wd engaged. The 2x speed doesn't matter because both will be 2x. i jacked up one side of the tercel that works fine in 4wd and spun the front tire 10 revolutions while it was in 4wd and neutral. both tires were marked and ended up...

A few stupid observations.... First of all...I guessing those high mileage tanks were with the previous retarded cam timing? Could be that the 4-6* retarded cam timing might be the way they designed it to run...so the original cam timing is EXPECTED to run a bit retarded from how it is originally s...

How on earth are you getting 40 to 46 mpg!?!? What have you done to the engine/carb/exhaust syst? What kind of tires are you running? Why do you think you are getting such good MPG? I find it hard to beleive they could even be tweeked to get that good mpg. The best I would hope for on mine ...

Re: Clutch conundrum
[. Anyone know what could be the problem? I have a feeling my answer lies in the odd self adjusting clutch pedal. Thanks for the help in advance, Andrew.[/quote] Did you replace the clutch cable? If you did i wonder if its the right length. The parts store gave me the wrong cable once. Not sure if t...
