Re: Another Seattle AL25 member
The windshield on the Tercel was leaking because of rust on the windshield flange. I had the windshield removed so that I could remove the rust and put a fresh coat of paint on it. RJy0R5r.jpg Then I had a new windshield installed. Then yesterday morning I drove over to the shop at work and painted ...

I’d like to hear how they perform. Once you get them on the snow please post how they do.

Re: WATER LEAK ON DRIVER SIDE FLOOR
My glass did end up breaking even when a professional tried to remove it. Of course it might have been intentional so that I would have had to buy a new one. The factory way of installing the trim clips is to glue them in place.

Kinda sounds like it could be a potential regulator problem too. Check that as well before replacing an alternator.

Re: WATER LEAK ON DRIVER SIDE FLOOR
Nice fix! I recently had water leaking into my passenger floorboard also. Mine was the windshield seal. I had the windshield removed and that revealed the whole windshield lip was covered with rust scale and even had a few pin holes. Fourtunately after cleaning it up with a wire wheel on a grinder i...

I might be interested in coming and fixing it then driving it back to Seattle. Do you have a place that could be used to work on it?

I love how excited you get over saving a Tercel Petros! It’s great to see. I agree. From the sound of it, this one is certainly with whatever effort it takes to get it back on the road.

Just so everyone knows. Rebuild kits are still available from Advance Auto. You have to order it online only. Not available for in-store purchase. However at $500 it is quite expensive, but does come with most syncros.

Re: Future of small 4wd vehicles?
Unfourtunately today’s car buyers want electronic gizmos rather mechanical reliability. Most of the people buying cars these days view a car purchase as very short term. 5-10 years. We are very much in the minority. Although I’m sure most of us on this forum would love a simple small 4wd vehicle tha...

Re: Front end Shakes
I wonder if a rusted sway bar could be repaired? I wouldn’t want to weld on one since it is spring steel, but it might be possible to have a machine shop mill the end down to good metal then add a pressed-on sleeve. For our cars with this critical suspension component that is no longer available we ...
