Re: COILS ONLINE ANYONE TRIED THEM???

Sean, Petros is saying the actual strut if replaced once already (the part you are replacing) cannot be rebuilt. If ORIGINAL, you could rebuild with seals etc. You will most likely pull the strut out after screwing the nut off and slide your new strut in. Here is a pic of front springs I received to...

Re: RockAuto.com - Rebates Expiring Soon!

Shock and Strut rebate is in the form of a prepaid visa card, I just sent mine in today. I received one mis-boxed strut mount and they sent a new one ASAP after I filled out the online info for issues. I just ordered some springs for the front last night, should have late this week. Economical and p...

Re: Woohoo!

GLet71 - Certainly not going as tall as Barto did, just adding a little height to the daily driver. I am going with a little stiffer spring in the front as well, will have to see what it adds in height. Hoping for just an inch ir little more. As for the shocks, I went with the KYB Gas-a-Just that li...

R & P

Hey all,

I have a little play in the front end and I don't think it's the tie rod ends. Based on my inspection, I believe it is more likely in the R & P. How much is too much? It's not easy to see, but you can feel it.

Re: Woohoo!

Thanks guys,

That went reasonably well. The Pathfinder springs added just over 2". Now on to the front.

The pic from the rear was after completing one side. I am going to wait until I get the front improved before putting the new tires on.

Woohoo!

Hey all, Things are going well, driving the Rusty Frog daily. I'm sure I will do a one-year update post before long, but I have managed just over 20k miles in the first 11.5 months. Finally getting to an improvement that is more fun! New shoes!! And swapping the Nissan Pathfinder springs and new sho...

Re: Mysterious problem with cooling system

Also, when you had weird things happen did you put full heat on inside the car and turn the fan on max. This is like adding another radiator into the system and would help cool down the engine if overheating is actually a problem. I understand why this is the case and believe it to be true. However...

Peter,

I probably missed an earlier post (a month ago), but congrats on 10 yrs as a registered "member". By the way, any references to programs with David Carradine in the lead kind of dates you  . I enjoyed the program as well, though I was surely watching re-runs :D .

Re: Mysterious problem with cooling system

Shaye,

I'm sorry it wasn't as easy as I had hoped. I will defer to Petros and follow the thread. I assume the antifreeze level is good?

Re: Mysterious problem with cooling system

ML, I've only been driving my Tercel, the "Rusty Frog", for 10 months or so (17,000 + miles), so I am still learning as well. From what you have shared, this jumps out for me, I've noticed that when it's running hot if I pull over the fan will be off and the bottom hose only luke warm whic...

Re: 1987 Tercel 4WD 4AGE

Hey all,

This car was still available as of this morning. I've got plenty to do on the Rusty Frog and too much invested to walk away from it. Would be interesting to see this one though.

Re: Two Toyota SR5 4X4 Wagons for Sale $1,000

Hey Tom,

I figure to bring the Rusty Frog down after I redo the suspension and get new shoes (hopefully late spring/early summer). At any rate, that's what I was thinking as well (no shipping). I'll set it aside and we will meet up in a few months hopefully.

Re: Two Toyota SR5 4X4 Wagons for Sale $1,000

Good morning fellas, Tom - Having a rough night (2:15 am)? As far as I can see, the OP simply joined to advertise the two cars. If there was mention of the OP "parting" one out I missed it (maybe in the removed CL ad that was linked ?). Whether it was the post here or the CL add, there is ...

Re: 1987 Tercel 4WD 4AGE

Hey Hiro,

I'm only a couple hours north, interesting car. I don't see them in the Midwest very often. I'd consider swapping if mine wasn't my daily driver. Mine is running great, but is a rusty, though quite low mileage car.

Re: Story time!

Abra,

Love the look of your Terc with the bigger tires and a little lift, hope to make mine more like that this Spring/Summer. I'm running 14s off my old Prizm and the speedo and odometer are pretty much accurate. Winter has drug my mpg down around 25, was getting upper 20s in better weather.
