My tercel's tranny is still borken, so I took my old Volvo out to the CSCC AutoX today

Yea well... I have no C no more ;) I have carburator, spacer, intake - no EGR, no weird vacuum thingies... Hell, I dont even have Vacuum advance! Just static, 39 degrees advance, at all times :D Mmmm Can't wait to Race this sunday!! Hope it gets above -40 out soon so I can go pull that tranny!!! - R

Being stuck in 2nd gear is the transmissions way of saying that it is broken... I've done this to TWO tercels now, broken the transmission... I'm pretty strong, so I eventually got it out of 2nd, only to find out that 2nd, 3rd and 4th all now do not work - only 1st and reverse, it's a fairly 'common...

Ok, so.. well

my plan is...

to get a transmission out of a car with the same OCT-84 OR LATER than that sticker.

DONE.

So... any car newer than mine, has the 4.10 tranny. - Got it.

What years are 3.73 and which are 4.10 ratios again? I searched and got conflicting data. My car is a October 1984 Build. any benefits to keeping the 3AC head? Will it raise compression or lower it, are valves the same size - in fact, is it the same head?

I'm asking because my 3AC head will be worked over, and if I decide to 4AC swap later on, it'd be nice to know if it'd be a waste of time or not.
